Swimming pool tiling across the South East, from the Kent coast to the Thames Valley.

The South East has more pools than almost anywhere in the country, from public leisure and school pools to hotel, club and private pools in homes. We travel down from Warrington to repair, regroute, clean and refurbish tiled pools across the region, and plan each visit so the trip is worthwhile.

Across the region

Pool repairs and refurbishment in the South East

The region covers a lot of different places. There are seaside towns along the Sussex and Kent coast with hotel and holiday pools, university cities such as Oxford, Canterbury and Brighton, commuter towns in Surrey and Berkshire with health clubs and gyms, and villages full of private pools in homes.

We have area pages for Brighton, Reading, Portsmouth, Canterbury, Guildford, Southampton, Oxford and London, and we work in the towns between them too.

Hard water

Scale on tiled pools

Much of the South East sits on chalk and the water is hard. On a tiled pool that shows as scale at the waterline, rough grout and white deposits around fittings. A controlled clean on a drained pool usually removes it and shows what condition the tiles and joints are really in.

Scale can also hide cracked tiles and open joints. Scrubbing hard at heavy deposits with the pool full tends to damage grout, so it is usually better to deal with them properly during a planned drain down and check the finish while the surface is clear.

Travel

Making a long trip count

Because we come from the North West, we ask for photos of the pool before we visit. They help us understand the problem and bring the right materials. We still inspect before pricing, because photos cannot show a hollow tile or a failed bed.

For longer jobs we stay locally, so the work runs on a normal day rather than around a long drive. Where two pools in the same area need attention, we can often plan the visits together.

Timing

Fitting the work into your calendar

Schools usually want work done in the summer holidays, holiday and hotel pools in the quiet months, and clubs when members will notice least. Most repairs need the pool drained, and the grout and adhesive need curing time before refill, so tell us your window early.

Where a pool has several problems, we can split the work into stages across more than one closure, dealing with safety issues such as sharp edges or lifting step tiles first. We agree the order with you so each stage leaves the pool safe to reopen. Surrounds, changing rooms and spa areas can often be done in the same closure as the pool itself, which saves shutting twice.

All questions
Do you cover the whole of South East England?

Yes. We work right across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, as well as the rest of the UK.

Will you travel for a small repair?

Yes, though for a small job it helps to send photos first so we can judge whether one visit will do it. Grouping nearby work can make the trip go further.

Do you work on private pools as well as commercial ones?

Yes. We take on private indoor and outdoor pools alongside school, leisure, hotel and club pools.

What affects the estimate?

  • The pool area and which surfaces need work
  • Joint size and the grout or tiles involved
  • The condition of the tiles, joints and background
  • Access to the pool and the working areas
  • Preparation, cleaning and any repairs needed first
  • The programme and when the pool can close
