Private pool refurbishment: your pool, at home, finished with care.
If your pool at home has wearing grout, loose tiles or a finish that has gone dull, we can come and look, explain the options and agree a scope before anything starts. PoolRevive is the pool side of TileTrust Ltd, a Warrington tiling business, and we take on private indoor and outdoor pools across the UK.
Pool tiling and repairs for private pools
Most private pool owners come to us with one of three concerns: the pool no longer looks the way it should, something has visibly failed, or they are planning a larger refurbishment and want to know what is worth keeping. Each needs a different answer, so we start by looking at the pool rather than offering a standard package.
A home pool is usually used less intensively than a public pool, but it is seen up close every day. Uneven joints, a mismatched replacement tile or a smeared edge band are noticed, so the standard of finish matters as much as the repair itself.
Many enquiries start with a simple question: is this a clean, a repair or something bigger? Dark joints can be staining rather than failure, and a single cracked tile can be a local issue or a sign of something behind it. You cannot tell from a photo alone.
- Cleaning of tile faces, joints, steps and edges
- Local repair of loose, cracked or missing tiles
- Regrouting, epoxy or cement-based, where the tiles are sound
- Partial or full retiling, including mosaic
- Pool surround, terrace and changing area tiling
Repairs that sit quietly in the pool
A good repair should be hard to find. Where a few tiles have failed, we aim to match size, colour and surface as closely as the available tiles allow, and we set joint widths and levels to suit the surrounding work. Older or discontinued tiles can be difficult to match exactly, and we will tell you honestly what is achievable before you commit.
On mosaic, curved walls and feature steps, the detail is in the joints, corners and changes of plane. Those are the places we spend the most time, because that is where a repair either disappears or looks patched.
Working around a home, not a building site
Pool work at home means people, noise and materials moving through your property. We agree access routes, working areas and where materials will be stored before we start, and we keep the site tidy as the work goes on.
Draining, cleaning, repair, curing and refilling all take time, and the order matters. We explain the sequence at the start, and cure and refill times are built into the plan rather than cut short to hit a date. If you have a family occasion or the summer season in mind, tell us early so the programme can be discussed with that in view.
Some defects only show once the water is out, and they can change the scope. If that happens we tell you there and then, explain the options and agree any change with you before carrying on.
Different pools, different conditions
Indoor pools often deal with warm, humid air and condensation around the pool hall, which affects surrounds, changing areas and any adjoining wet rooms. Outdoor pools face weather, temperature swings and debris, and the timing of work is often shaped by the season.
Product choice follows the conditions. Tile adhesives, grouts and any render repairs are selected for the location and whether the area will be immersed, and used to the manufacturers' instructions. Perimeter and movement joints get a flexible sealant, not grout.
Outdoor pools are often easier to work on outside the main swimming months, when the pool would be quieter anyway. That can suit the owner, but weather still affects drying, curing and some products, so the plan needs a little flexibility built in.
Plain answers before any work begins
We do not publish prices, because the right scope depends on what is actually in your pool. We look at the tiles, grout and areas of concern, explain what we think is causing the problem, and quote the agreed scope. Where a clean or a local repair is enough, we will say so.
You will be dealing with Dan and Jay, the tilers who carry out the work, backed by more than 25 years of tiling experience in the business. We are just as clear about limits: regrouting will not fix loose tiles or a leaking shell, and no grout has a guaranteed lifespan.
Can you repair a few tiles without retiling the whole pool?
Often, yes. Where the surrounding tiles and the background are sound, loose, cracked or missing tiles can usually be repaired locally. How far the repair goes depends on what we find under the tile, so it can grow if the bedding or render behind has failed.
Will replacement tiles match my existing pool?
It depends on the tile. Current ranges can usually be matched closely, while older or discontinued tiles may only be approximated. We discuss the options with you before work starts, including using spare tiles if you have them.
Do you work on outdoor pools as well as indoor ones?
Yes. We take on private indoor and outdoor pools. For outdoor pools, timing is often shaped by the weather and the season, and product choice takes account of the conditions the pool will face.
How do I get a quote for my pool at home?
Send an enquiry through the estimate form with a short description and, ideally, some photos. We will then arrange to look at the pool, explain the options and quote the scope we agree.
Tell us about your pool.
Send a few details and we’ll get back to you to understand the job. Photos of the tiles, grout and problem areas help us a lot, and you can add them below.
What affects the estimate?
- The pool area and which surfaces need work
- Joint size and the grout or tiles involved
- The condition of the tiles, joints and background
- Access to the pool and the working areas
- Preparation, cleaning and any repairs needed first
- The programme and when the pool can close
