Commercial wet areas, properly tiled.
Commercial tiling in wet areas has to survive heavy use, strong cleaning and water every day, often in buildings that cannot close. We take on tiling for operators, facilities managers and main contractors, with a focus on pools, poolside, changing rooms, showers and other demanding wet spaces.
Operators, managers and contractors
Some projects come directly from a pool operator, hotel or school that needs repair or refurbishment. Others come from a main contractor or pool builder looking for a specialist tiling package within a larger build or refit.
Either way, we want the same things settled early: what the specification says, what condition the substrate will be in, who is responsible for waterproofing and preparation, and how access and timing will work.
PoolRevive sits within TileTrust Ltd, a Warrington tiling business with more than 25 years of tiling experience in residential, commercial and leisure work. Pools and wet areas are where most of that experience now goes.
Where commercial tiling is hardest
Our work centres on spaces where tiling is most likely to fail if it is done poorly. These areas punish voids under tiles, the wrong grout, missing movement joints and poor falls.
In these spaces a tiling defect is rarely just cosmetic. Water getting behind tiles can cause damage beneath, loose or broken tiles can create trip and cut hazards, and a failed floor can close a facility. So we spend the time on preparation and detailing.
- Swimming pools, learner pools and spa pools
- Poolside and pool hall floors
- Changing rooms, showers and accessible wet rooms
- Steam rooms and spa areas
- External pool surrounds and terraces
Following the spec, raising concerns early
On contractor-led projects we work to the specification provided. If a detail looks likely to cause problems, such as a product combination that is not stated as compatible or a movement joint layout that does not suit the floor, we raise it before tiling rather than after.
We use compatible products to the manufacturers' instructions and do not substitute materials without agreement. Changes are discussed and confirmed so everyone knows what has been installed.
Where no detailed specification exists, for example on a repair to an older facility, we propose one based on what we find and explain the reasoning so the client can approve it.
Clear scope for clear estimates
Commercial estimates are most reliable when the scope is clear. Drawings, the specification, photographs of existing conditions and the intended programme all help, and a site visit is often worthwhile where existing tiling is being removed or repaired.
We price what has been agreed and explain any assumptions, such as the condition of the substrate or who provides waterproofing. If what we find on site differs from those assumptions, we explain it and agree the way forward before carrying on.
- Drawings and the tiling specification
- Photographs of existing areas
- Intended programme and access arrangements
- Who is responsible for substrate preparation and waterproofing
Working around operations
Many commercial wet areas sit inside buildings that stay open. We agree working zones, segregation, access routes, deliveries and working hours with the site before starting, and keep noise, dust and disruption as contained as the work allows.
Phasing can let a facility keep part of its changing or wet provision available while another area is tiled. Each phase includes the cure time its products need before it is handed back into use.
- Working zones and segregation agreed in advance
- Safe routes kept for staff and users
- Deliveries and waste removal planned around the site
- Working hours agreed with the site, including out of hours where arranged
No surprises on the programme
Hidden defects are common when old tiling is removed. When we find one, we flag it promptly with a clear explanation so the client or contractor can decide how to proceed. We work hard to meet agreed dates and say early if something puts them at risk.
At handover we explain the cure times still running, any areas to keep out of use and how the new tiling and joints should be cleaned, so the facility team knows exactly what they are taking back.
Do you work as a tiling subcontractor for main contractors?
Yes. We take on specialist tiling packages for main contractors and pool builders, as well as working directly for operators. We like to agree the specification, substrate condition, waterproofing responsibility and programme at the outset.
Can you tile in a building that stays open?
Often, yes. We agree working zones, segregation, access and hours with the site before starting, and phase work where the layout allows so some facilities stay in use.
What happens if the specified product does not suit the area?
We raise it before tiling and explain our concern. Products are only changed with agreement, and we use compatible systems to the manufacturers' instructions so the installation is consistent.
Do you only tile pools?
Pools and pool-related wet areas are our focus, but TileTrust Ltd also takes on commercial and wet room tiling more generally. Describe the job on the estimate form and we will be straight with you about whether it suits us.
What information helps you price a commercial tiling package?
Drawings, the tiling specification, photographs of existing areas and the intended programme are the most useful. It also helps to know who is preparing the substrate and installing any waterproofing. Where existing tiling is involved, a site visit usually gives a more accurate scope.
Tell us about your pool.
Send a few details and we’ll get back to you to understand the job. Photos of the tiles, grout and problem areas help us a lot, and you can add them below.
