Dundee pool repairs, fitted into term breaks and shutdowns.

Dundee is a university city on the north shore of the Firth of Tay, and many of its pools run to an academic or school calendar. We help plan tile repairs, regrouting and refurbishment so the work lands in the window you actually have.

Pools on the Tay

Who uses the pools in Dundee

Alongside public leisure pools, the city has university and college pools, school teaching pools, hotel and health club pools, and private pools in homes out towards Broughty Ferry and the Angus countryside.

Teaching pools take a lot of small feet on the steps and shallow end, and those areas often show wear before the rest of the tank.

Timing

Working back from the reopening date

The best time to call us is well before the closure, not at the start of it. A drain-down, the repairs, cure time for adhesive and grout, and a controlled refill all have to fit between the last swim and the first lesson.

If we know your dates early, we can inspect, agree the scope and order any matched tiles in good time, so nothing is waiting on a delivery once the water is out.

  • Summer holidays for schools and colleges
  • Breaks between university terms
  • Planned annual shutdowns for leisure pools
  • Quieter seasons for hotel and club pools
Small problems

Reporting faults between closures

Staff often notice a lifted tile or a sharp edge on a step mid-term. Sharp or lifting tiles are a safety issue, so close off the area and send us a photo. We can tell you whether it looks like a one-off or part of a wider bond failure that should be looked at in the next closure.

Cleaning

When a deep clean is enough

Not every tired looking pool needs new grout. Staining, scale and body fats can make sound grout look failed. While the pool is drained for a holiday closure, a chemical deep clean can show what is genuinely worn and what simply needed cleaning.

If we are unsure, we can try a small test area first and agree the wider scope from the result.

Pool work in Dundee: common questions

All questions
How far ahead should a Dundee university or school pool book?

As early as you can. Ideally we inspect before the closure is fixed, so the scope and materials are settled before the pool is drained.

What if the work cannot finish within the holiday?

We will tell you at the inspection if the scope looks too big for the window. Options include splitting the work across two closures or tackling the worst areas first.

Do you also work on private pools around Dundee?

Yes. Private indoor and outdoor pools in homes are part of our work, as well as commercial pools.

Start with an estimate

Tell us about your pool.

Send a few details and we’ll get back to you to understand the job. Photos of the tiles, grout and problem areas help us a lot, and you can add them below.

Dan or Jay will be in touch within 24 hours.

What affects the estimate?

  • The pool area and which surfaces need work
  • Joint size and the grout or tiles involved
  • The condition of the tiles, joints and background
  • Access to the pool and the working areas
  • Preparation, cleaning and any repairs needed first
  • The programme and when the pool can close
