Wakefield pool tiling, from the tank to the changing rooms.
The pool tank is only part of the tiled area in most Wakefield pools. Walkways, channels, showers and changing rooms take just as much water and foot traffic, and they often fail on the same timetable. We look at the whole wet area and help you decide what to tackle together and what can wait.
Walkways, edges and channels
Poolside tiles need to stay slip resistant while being cleaned every day. Over time the surface wears smooth, edge tiles get knocked, and grout in channels and around gratings breaks down where water sits.
We check the falls as well as the tiles. If water ponds on a walkway, it will keep attacking the grout however often it is replaced.
Tiles on walkways and in changing rooms also need to suit the cleaning products and machines your staff use. If a product is etching the tile surface or breaking down the grout, we will point it out so the new finish lasts longer.

One closure or several
Doing the pool and the changing rooms in one shutdown means closing once. On the other hand, changing rooms can sometimes be done in sections while the pool stays open, if there is a safe route for swimmers and the layout allows it. We talk through both before agreeing a plan.
Where the pool hall and changing rooms share a drainage run or a plant room, it often makes sense to do the work at the same time. Where they do not, phasing can keep the centre open for longer. Either way, we set out the order of work and the closure dates in advance.
Pools around Wakefield
The Wakefield district takes in Pontefract, Castleford, Normanton and Ossett as well as the city itself. There are public leisure pools, school pools, health club pools and private pools in homes across the area, and it is quick to reach from the M62 and M1. We work on the tiled finish in all of them.
Many of the leisure and school pools here are of a similar age, so it is common to find grout and movement joints in the changing areas needing attention at around the same time as the pool tank. An inspection of the whole wet area gives you a clear picture before budgets are set.
Our team’s previous pool experience
Previous projects: carried out by Dan and his dad as self-employed subcontractors, before PoolRevive was formed. About our experience
Can you retile our changing rooms while the pool stays open?
Sometimes. It depends on the layout and whether swimmers can be kept safely away from the work. We look at it on site before suggesting it.
Our poolside feels slippery. Can you help?
We can check whether the tiles have worn smooth, whether cleaning residue is the cause, or whether water is ponding, and advise on cleaning, repair or replacement.
Do you cover Pontefract and Castleford?
Yes. We work across the Wakefield district and the rest of Yorkshire.
Tell us about your pool.
Send a few details and we’ll get back to you to understand the job. Photos of the tiles, grout and problem areas help us a lot, and you can add them below.
