Doncaster pool repairs, drained down or kept full.
One of the first questions operators in Doncaster ask is whether the pool really has to be drained. Most proper tile repairs and regrouting do need an empty pool, but not every job does. We explain what each option can and cannot achieve so you can plan the closure with your eyes open.
When the pool has to come down
New adhesive and grout need a dry surface to bond to and time to cure before water goes back in. Rebedding loose tiles, regrouting large areas and retiling all need the pool drained.
A full pool may be fine for an inspection, surround repairs, and some minor repairs high on edges and steps with the water level lowered. We don't do diving work, so anything deeper is planned around a drain-down and done properly in the dry.
- Drained: rebedding, regrouting, retiling and full refurbishment
- Drained: proper inspection of the floor and lower walls
- Full: initial look at the waterline and surrounds
- Full: short-term make safe until a closure
Drain, work, cure, refill
We agree with your plant room staff who drains the pool, how quickly, and when water treatment restarts. The cure time before refilling goes in the programme from the outset, and the refill is controlled rather than rushed.
Doncaster sits on the A1(M) and M18, so it is a simple drive for us from Warrington. Short inspection visits are easy to arrange before the main closure.
If we find more once tiles come up, such as a failed bed under a larger area, we stop and talk it through with you before going further. Any change to the scope is agreed, not assumed.
Who we work for
Around Doncaster there are leisure centre and school pools, gym and health club pools, hotel pools near the main roads, and private pools in homes in the surrounding villages. We take on the tiled finish in all of them, along with surrounds and changing areas.
Before any closure, send us a few photos of the areas that worry you. They help us judge whether an early visit with the pool full is useful, or whether it is better to wait and inspect once it has been drained.
Our team’s previous pool experience
Previous projects: carried out by Dan and his dad as self-employed subcontractors, before PoolRevive was formed. About our experience
Can you fix loose tiles without draining our pool?
Sometimes. Minor repairs on the surround, or high up on edges and steps with the water level lowered, can often be done without a full drain, depending on the pool's size and layout. We don't do diving work, so tiles lower down usually need the pool drained so they can be rebedded properly on a dry surface.
How long does the pool need to stay empty after regrouting?
It depends on the grout and adhesive used and the conditions in the hall. We follow the manufacturer's cure times and build them into the programme.
Will you look at our pool before quoting?
Yes. We inspect first, ideally drained, and agree the scope before giving a price.
Tell us about your pool.
Send a few details and we’ll get back to you to understand the job. Photos of the tiles, grout and problem areas help us a lot, and you can add them below.
