Newcastle pool works, planned around the academic year.

We repair, regrout and refurbish swimming pools in Newcastle upon Tyne for schools, universities, leisure operators, hotels and private owners. For school and university pools, the hard part is rarely the tiling. It is fitting the work into the holiday.

Counting back

From reopening day to inspection day

Start from the date the pool has to be back in use and work backwards. Before that comes the refill and getting the water right. Before that, curing. Before that, the tiling or regrouting, the preparation and the drain-down. Only then is it clear when the inspection has to happen.

Done that way, most summer jobs need inspecting in the spring term. If the window turns out too short for the work, we would rather say so in spring than squeeze the curing in August.

The schedule

  • Spring term: inspection, scope agreed, materials ordered
  • Before the holiday: drain-down and refill booked with your plant team
  • Holiday: preparation, tiling or regrouting, then curing
  • Before term: slow refill and water treatment brought back into use

Who we work for

Newcastle has a big student population, and university and college pools sit alongside school pools, public leisure pools, hotel and spa pools, and health clubs. Further out there are private pools in homes across Northumberland.

Changing rooms and showers in schools and universities take heavy daily use as well, and can often go into the same closure.

Lane lines

Targeted repairs on a busy floor

Lane lines and floor bands often wear unevenly. Note where they are failing. Depending on what is beneath, they can sometimes be repaired without retiling the whole floor.

Good to know

Pool work in Newcastle: common questions

All questions
When should a school book summer pool works?

As early as possible. An inspection in the spring term leaves time to agree the scope, order materials and fit everything, curing and refill included, inside the holiday.

Who manages the drain-down and refill?

We agree that with you at the start. Usually the site's own plant team or pool contractor handles the water side, and we fit our work around it.

Can lane markings be repaired without retiling the pool?

Often, depending on what is underneath. We can tell you once we have inspected the pool.
