Wolverhampton pool repairs, getting to the cause of repeat failures.
If the same tiles in your Wolverhampton pool keep coming loose, the repair is not the whole answer. We look for the reason behind the failure, then repair or regrout what needs it. It is quicker in the long run than patching the same patch every year.
When the same bay keeps failing
Plenty of pools across Wolverhampton and the wider Black Country have been in service for a long time and repaired more than once. Some of those repairs hold well. Others sit on top of a bed that had already failed, so the new tiles lift again within a season or two.
Common culprits include missing or blocked movement joints, adhesive that was never right for immersion, water getting behind failed grout, and movement in the pool shell itself. Each needs a different fix.
Photos of earlier repairs, or notes from whoever did them, are useful if you have them. Knowing what adhesive and grout went in last time helps us work out why it did not hold.
- Movement joints that have been grouted over
- Hollow areas spreading out from an old repair
- Grout washing out along the same lines
- Cracks that run through tiles and grout together
Honest about what tapping can show
We tap test around the problem area to map hollow tiles, but that only tells us where to look. Lifting a few tiles shows what the bed and background are really like. We explain where that might be needed before work starts, so a change in scope is not a surprise.
Sometimes the answer is a small, local repair. Sometimes the problem has spread under tiles that still look fine. We would rather tell you that before a job starts than leave you with a repair that fails again next year.
Epoxy regrouting done properly
Where tiles are sound but joints have gone, an epoxy regrout can add years of life. The old grout has to come out to the right depth and the joints must be clean and dry first, or the new grout will not bond. It is slow, careful work, and we do it ourselves rather than handing it on.
If your pool has had several different grouts over the years, we look at how each has behaved. That history often shows where water is getting in and which joints are under the most strain.
Our team’s previous pool experience
Previous projects: carried out by Dan and his dad as self-employed subcontractors, before PoolRevive was formed. About our experience
Our pool was repaired two years ago and tiles are lifting again. Can you help?
Yes. We will look at the old repair and the area around it to find out why it failed, then tell you what we think will last.
Do you only work on large public pools in Wolverhampton?
No. We also work on hotel, health club, school and private pools, plus their surrounds and changing rooms.
Will you need the pool drained?
For most repairs and any regrouting, yes. We can usually tell from photos and a first look whether a drain down is needed.
Tell us about your pool.
Send a few details and we’ll get back to you to understand the job. Photos of the tiles, grout and problem areas help us a lot, and you can add them below.
