Shrewsbury pool repairs, for old town buildings and Shropshire homes.

Shrewsbury sits in a loop of the River Severn, with a medieval centre of narrow streets and timber-framed buildings. Around it is rural Shropshire, where many private and hotel pools are found. We repair, regrout and retile pools in both settings.

Older buildings

Pools in period properties

Some pools in and around the town sit inside converted barns, older houses or extended country hotels. These buildings rarely have straight walls or easy routes for materials, and the pool hall may be reached through the rest of the property.

We walk the access route on the first visit and agree how floors, doors and finishes will be protected. Parking and loading in the town centre also need some thought, so we plan deliveries around them.

Smaller hotels and guest houses with pools in the Shropshire countryside face similar issues, with the added need to keep noise and dust away from guests. We agree working hours and protection that suit the business.

Private pools

Looking after a home pool

Home pools in Shropshire are often kept warm for long periods but used lightly. The problems we see are usually gradual: grout that has softened, a tile on a step that has come loose, or staining that ordinary cleaning will not shift.

Because these pools are not under the same daily pressure as a public pool, problems can go unnoticed for longer. A yearly look, or a photo sent whenever something changes, keeps repairs small.

  • Loose or hollow tiles on steps and benches
  • Softened or missing grout
  • Scale and staining at the waterline
  • Mosaic panels that need careful repair
Mosaic work

Keeping a mosaic finish intact

Many private pools have mosaic on steps, floors or walls. Small sections can be lifted and reset, but matching colour and size exactly matters if the repair is not to stand out. Spare sheets from the original installation are worth digging out before we start.

Where an exact match is impossible, we can sometimes take tiles from a less visible area, such as under a step nosing, and fit new tiles there instead.

Pool work in Shrewsbury: common questions

All questions
Do you work on private pools in rural Shropshire?

Yes. Private home pools make up a good part of our work, and we are happy to travel out to villages and farms.

Our pool is inside an old building. Is that a problem?

Not usually. We look at access and protection on the first visit and plan the work around the building.

Can you repair a mosaic without redoing the whole pool?

Often, yes. Matching is the main challenge, so any spare original mosaic helps a lot.

Start with an estimate

Tell us about your pool.

Send a few details and we’ll get back to you to understand the job. Photos of the tiles, grout and problem areas help us a lot, and you can add them below.

Dan or Jay will be in touch within 24 hours.

What affects the estimate?

  • The pool area and which surfaces need work
  • Joint size and the grout or tiles involved
  • The condition of the tiles, joints and background
  • Access to the pool and the working areas
  • Preparation, cleaning and any repairs needed first
  • The programme and when the pool can close
