Pool refurbishment in Milton Keynes, for pools that cannot stay shut for long.

Many pools in Milton Keynes belong to hotels, gyms and health clubs whose members expect them open. A closure costs them, so the question is how to get the work done properly in as few days as possible. That starts with a clear scope agreed before the water comes out.

Shorter closures

How the downtime is kept down

The quickest closures are the ones where nothing is decided on the day. Materials are ordered, tiles are matched and the plant room team knows when to drain and refill before we arrive.

We still do not cut cure times to hit a date. If a full programme will not fit, we would rather split the work into phases.

  • Inspection and agreed scope before booking the closure
  • Tiles and materials on site from day one
  • Draining and refilling arranged with your plant staff
  • Surround or changing room work done alongside, where it is safe
  • Larger jobs split across two planned closures
The town

A new town with pools of every age

Milton Keynes was designated a new town in 1967 and has kept growing since. Some of its pools date from the early years and are on their second or third set of repairs, while others are much newer. There are hotel and club pools near the centre and the M1, school and leisure pools across the grid squares, and private pools in the older villages around them.

A pool from the 1980s and one from last decade wear in different ways, so we judge each on what we see.

Travel

Close to the M1

From Warrington it is a fairly direct run down the M1, so a separate inspection visit is easy to arrange before the closure is booked.

Health club pools

Where wear shows first

In busy hotel and gym pools the first signs of trouble usually appear at the steps, the entry points and the waterline, where feet, hands and cleaning machines do the most work. Spa pools and steam rooms next door often need attention on the same timetable.

Spotting those early means a short targeted repair in the next planned closure, instead of a bigger job forced at a bad time.

Pool work in Milton Keynes: common questions

All questions
Can you work overnight so our gym pool stays open by day?

Tile and grout repairs generally need the pool drained and then time to cure, so night working does not usually avoid a closure. We can plan to keep it as short as the work allows.

Can the changing rooms be done at the same time as the pool?

Often, yes. Doing both in one closure can save shutting twice, where the layout allows it to be done safely.

Do you take on private pools in and around Milton Keynes?

Yes. We work on private pools as well as hotel, club, school and leisure pools.

What affects the estimate?

  • The pool area and which surfaces need work
  • Joint size and the grout or tiles involved
  • The condition of the tiles, joints and background
  • Access to the pool and the working areas
  • Preparation, cleaning and any repairs needed first
  • The programme and when the pool can close
