Pool repairs in Newport, planned around your closure window.
For most pool operators in Newport, the hard part of a tiling job is not the tiling, it is finding the time to close. We help plan that from the start. Dan and Jay inspect the pool, agree the scope, and build the programme around the dates you can actually shut.
Choosing when to shut
Newport sits on the River Usk between Cardiff and the Severn crossings, with school, college, leisure and health club pools across the city and private pools in the villages towards Monmouthshire. Each of them has a different good time to close.
School pools usually wait for the holidays. Leisure and club pools often have an annual shutdown already booked for plant work. If yours does, it makes sense to fit the tiling into the same window rather than closing twice.
What needs agreeing before the drain-down
A closure goes smoothly when the practical details are settled in advance, not on the first morning.
- Who drains the pool and how long it takes
- Where materials and waste can be stored
- Safe access to the pool hall and the tank
- When water treatment can restart
- The date by which refilling must begin
Why the last few days matter
Adhesive and grout keep curing after they look finished. Filling too soon can wash out new grout or weaken a fresh bed, so the manufacturer's cure time goes into the programme from the first day and stays there.
If a reopening date is fixed, we work backwards from it. That sometimes means doing less in one closure and planning the rest for the next, which is better than rushing. A pool that reopens on a rushed refill can end up closing again within months.
When the same area keeps failing
If tiles keep coming loose in one spot, we look for the reason before replacing them again. Movement in the structure, a missing movement joint or a poor original bed are common culprits, and new tiles on top will not cure them. Once we know the cause, we can suggest a repair that has a fair chance of lasting, and tell you if a wider fix is needed.
Our team’s previous pool experience
Previous projects: carried out by Dan and his dad as self-employed subcontractors, before PoolRevive was formed. About our experience
How far ahead should a Newport school book pool work?
As early as you can. The summer holiday is the window most schools use, and the scope and materials need agreeing before it starts so no time is lost.
Can you work during a shutdown that is already booked for plant work?
Often, yes. We just need to agree with the plant contractor who needs the tank when, so the two jobs do not get in each other's way.
Do you cover Newport from Warrington?
Yes. We work right across Wales and the rest of the UK, and plan travel around the job.
Tell us about your pool.
Send a few details and we’ll get back to you to understand the job. Photos of the tiles, grout and problem areas help us a lot, and you can add them below.
